Mary’s Bio

I have been creating one of a kind ceramic works since 1991. My clay life began at the 577 Foundation in Perrysburg, Ohio. We fell in love immediately and have been together ever since .

My next step was ceramics classes at the University of Toledo, where I had previously earned BA and M.Ed degrees. Prof. Rex Fogt encouraged me to apply for entry into local, regional, state, and national juried shows. Galleries and other venues in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Montana, Colorado, and places in between have juried in my work.

Attending clay workshops in the summer expanded my knowledge of the medium. Studying at Penland, Haystack, and Arrowmont, with nationally known potters, gave me skills to become the potter I am today.

I have been a member of the Toledo Potters’ Guild for over 30 years. I am one of the founder of the Empty Bowls project at the Guild which is held in September to benefit Food for Thought’s local food pantries and outreach programs.

My work is currently available at Hudson Gallery in Sylvania, OH as well as the Museum Store at the Toledo Museum of Art.
