Mary’s Bio

Mary Mossing Krueger is an Ohio artist who has enjoyed creating since she was a child. Her first formal art classes were in high school, where she was blessed with teachers that awakened and nurtured her creativity. In college she earned a BFA degree from the University of Toledo, with majors in drawing & printmaking and minoring in painting. It was here that she learned to “see” and “think” as an artist under the tutelage of Diana Attie and Peter Elloian. She worked at The Toledo Museum of Art as an assistant to the Curator of Graphic Arts, leaving that position to be a full time wife and mom to their 4 sons, whom they homeschooled. She is active is several local and regional art organizations, exhibiting, leading and promoting the visual arts in the community. She always has a sketchbook and pen handy, enjoying the challenge to take that flat surface and create a three dimensional sense of depth, by pushing and pulling you in and out of that picture plane, either realistically, abstractly or sometimes combined.  She uses a variety of line, values, light, textures and color to create believable form and space. She currently works mainly in colored pencil alone or combined with mixed media. She continues to compete in local, regional and international competitions.
