Lisa’s Bio

Lisa Barroso is a Cuban-born artist living and working in the Toledo area. She studied art at Cranbrook and the University of Michigan and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Toledo. Her focus is figurative work and landscapes and what she refers to as “mindscapes”. She tries to create unique realities on the canvas or paper and brings a psychological intensity to her work as a result of many years of being a Psychiatric Nurse.

The artist has a studio in her home and is painting and drawing fulltime. She has served on several boards of various Art organizations. Her exhibit history includes group shows such as the Toledo Area Artist show in the Toledo Art Museum and the Roots of Diversity Exhibit. She has shown her work in several galleries like 20 North, The Wolfe Gallery, Gallery B, and Spectrum. She has had solo shows at the UT Center for Visual Arts, the Catherine Eberly Center for Women’s Studies, and the Franciscan Life Center at Lourdes College.
