Kathy’s Bio
Initially, in the way back when, Kathy’s official training was graphic
design, illustration and calligraphy at the Art Institute Of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After many years creating
commercially she decided to switch and create art on a more personal level. The client list for this design era includes many
corporate, advertising and marketing businesses in the tri-state area including Toledo, Ohio, Detroit, Michigan and Ft Wayne, Indiana.
Throughout the years Kathy has worked in many different mediums finally landing on a favorite which is acrylic painting. The present day artwork is still developed using the design principles employed in the commercial design world and always begins with her trusty sketches in hand. Overall she considers her style to be of an Impressionistic nature. With a little dash of whimsy more often than not added for fun.
Kathy’s technique involves a very dark color layer over a heavily textured base. Layering in a dark to light sequence creates the glowing highlights and shadowing that gives her the ethereal feeling she wants to invoke in her paintings. Over the years Kathy’s art has been included in many private and corporate collections in the tri-state area and beyond.
Her galleries include: Orchard Gallery, Ft Wayne, Indiana; Ruth Koomler Art Gallery, Ft Wayne, Indiana and Gallery 317, Bryan, Ohio
