Cynthia’s Bio

In the early 80’s Cynthia was honing her Fine Art Photography skills shooting scenes from nature and transposing them with the human form. She won awards in that medium both from the Toledo Area Artists’ Club as well as from nationally known magazines. She continued down this path for about ten years before shifting focus to watercolor. She took workshops and lessons with Toledo Artists’ Club’s teachers and visiting artists, instructors from the Toledo Museum of Art as well as others.

In the 90’s she went back to school at the University of Toledo at the Center for Visual Arts. Through her anatomy drawing classes she was reintroduced to the human form. From then on, she began participating with an In-Studio drawing group that met weekly. This helped advance her appreciation for improving her drawing skills. Additionally, she draws from the Toledo Museum of Arts collection and Plein Air groups. With such a rich variety of subject matter at the Toledo Museum of Art she began oil painting and drawing abstracts from that collection.

It was recently she was introduced to the Athena Art Society which inspired her to paint from her inventory of photographs, watercolors and sketches, some of which  were once award winners, to create an entire new direction, cultivating her painting passion. Cynthia has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, majoring in Graphic Design and minoring in Fine Art from Bowling Green State University.
