Athena Art Society is having this year’s exhibit in an exciting venue of two prominent galleries in Sylvania, Ohio—Hudson Gallery and Fuller Art House. Opening night was held on Sylvania’s monthly Red Bird Art Walk night. There was a bustle of activity and great fun with the attending crowds going back and forth between the two galleries where the members’ art was hung.

The Awards

The award winners, shown above, are: Lanna Pendleton-Hall, Best of Show, acrylic; Kelly Averill Savino, 1st place, ceramics; Susan Ritter, 2nd place, oil; Mary Ellen Taylor, 3rd place, ceramics. Thirty two other artists in the show are represented above in the banner. Jurors for the show were Barbara and Scott Hudson of Hudson Gallery and Dani Fuller of Fuller Art House.

Hudson Gallery

Hudson Gallery, established in 2003, is located in a restored 1800’s era building at the center of historic downtown Sylvania, Ohio. As a founding member of the Red Bird Arts District, the gallery is recognized as one of the region’s premier venues for original art. It has remained committed to its original philosophy of exhibiting the work of contemporary regional and national artists, working in a variety of disciplines and media. Scott and Barbara Hudson’s mission is that visitors will experience an atmosphere rich with a diverse and inspiring selection of work by gallery-represented artists. Hudson Gallery also provides a complete custom framing department for all types of artwork with over 2000 frame samples and offers complete conservation services as a specialty. Fuller Art House

Fuller Art House is a newer addition to the Sylvania scene, opening in early 2018, and is a combination gallery and creative space. An eclectic collection of art represents local and regional fine artists and the gallery was part of the founding of the Red Bird Arts District. Fuller Art House provides creative space for classes, workshops, and new events throughout the year. Dani Fuller is an artist herself and wishes for everyone to express their creativity and to “do it fuller.” She wants to create a space that draws people in for entertainment and exposes them to great art with genuine joy, piquing their creativity in unusual ways. At Fuller Art House you can sit around a hand-built table and get messy with curiosity and creativity, listen to poetry, or join a pop-up dinner party with lights and wildflowers–the gallery reflects Dani’s “fuller” philosophy of life.
