Maumee Valley Country Day School (MVCD) is an accredited, co-educational, nonsectarian, independent school, preschool through 12th grade. Their mission is to enable students to become enlightened, compassionate and contributing citizens of our global community, while preparing graduates for their best opportunities in higher education. Of the over 500 students total, 43% are multicultural coming from 45 zip codes and including international students from 10 countries. One hundred percent of students are bound for 4-year colleges. One of MVCD’s points of pride is to develop an appreciation for art through a hands-on approach. The fine arts are intricately woven into the tapestry of the school.  This is shown by the fact that they have their own art gallery, named after Mary Wolfe, a leader of fine arts in the area.  The director of Wolfe Gallery, LuAnn Glover, and fellow art faculty member, Kristin Kowalski, both juried Athena’s show. The school gets its name “Maumee Valley” from the nearby Maumee River which flows through the Toledo metropolitan area, emptying into Lake Erie.
